[Saba Sports News] Stefano Domenicali, the former F1 CEO, revealed that F1 is evaluating a return to a single global car-launch event involving all teams before the 2027 season, similar to the collective unveiling held in London in 2025. Ahead of the 2025 season opener, F1 staged a grand launch in London where all 10 teams appeared together. It was the first time in F1 history such a format was used and it also carried symbolic significance for F1’s 75th anniversary. The event was a huge success in terms of broadcast and ticket sales, but it also drew criticism: some fans felt it was more of a livery showcase with heavy entertainment overtones. For the 2026 season, major technical rules overhaul compressed teams’ R&D and testing schedules, causing new-car reveal timings to be staggered and pushing launches back toward a more traditional model. Domenicali said that as the rules stabilize, car development in the coming years will be evolutionary from existing platforms, relieving time pressures and creating scope to reconsider joint launch events — but the idea is still under discussion.
The editor believes that if a joint launch goes ahead, F1’s commercial rights holders would be able to further expand sponsorship and licensing revenue, and teams could earn substantial additional income from the event; overall, the benefits would outweigh the drawbacks.
