[Saba Sports News] After failing to win a single race in the 2025 season, Ferrari showed strong form during the 2026 pre-season tests. However, team principal Frédéric Vasseur remains cautious about a highly controversial innovation on the new SF-26. In the final phase of testing in Bahrain, Ferrari brought two consecutive aerodynamic updates. After introducing small winglets near the exhaust, they unveiled a rotating rear wing assembly to address the new active-aero regulations for 2026. Unlike most teams that use a more traditional DRS-like opening of the upper flap, Ferrari’s solution rotates the entire upper element of the rear wing to change its angle in straight-line mode. This design is quite rare in the current paddock. Vasseur has not confirmed whether the rotating rear wing will appear at the Australian Grand Prix on March 8.
The editor believes Vasseur’s concerns focus mainly on the time required to open and close the wing and the potential drag issues during the transition phase, because when the two wing elements are nearly perpendicular the rear wing could momentarily produce negative aerodynamic effects.
