[Saba Sports News] According to German media reports, Dieter Reiter, Mayor of Munich, has resigned from all his positions at FC Bayern Munich. On Wednesday morning, Reiter stated: “The trust of the people of Munich comes above everything else. For this reason, I have decided to step down from my roles on the supervisory board and the advisory board of FC Bayern Munich.” Dieter Reiter had been a member of Bayern Munich’s advisory board since 2016, for which he received annual compensation of €20,000, according to his own statement. The money was reportedly used to cover expensive VIP tickets. In February 2026, the club announced that Reiter would become a new member of the supervisory board. The mayor has not yet disclosed the amount of compensation for this position. There is speculation within the city council that it could amount to up to €75,000 per year, a figure based on statements from another supervisory board member.
The editor believes that since these payments were made public, Dieter Reiter’s approval rating in Munich has dropped sharply. He only won 35.6% of the vote in Sunday’s mayoral election, a 12% decrease compared with the 2020 election. To make matters worse for him, most of the postal votes cast before the Bayern Munich controversy still gave him nearly 40% of the vote. This has clearly prompted Dieter Reiter and his SPD team to reflect.
