(SabaSports) Magic Johnson recently appeared on Stephen A. Smith, A prominent commentator, to address previous comments made by the Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards. Edwards has said that Michael Jordan was the only star of the past who had real basketball skills.
On the show, Smith asked Magician what he thought of the idea. The magician responded, “I’m not going to respond to someone who has never won a championship!” The comments prompted loud cheers from the audience. Later, Magic added, “He didn’t win a college championship, and I don’t even know if he won a championship in high school.” That made the cheers louder, and it was clear that many fans supported the magician’s point of view.
Earlier in the interview, Edwards discussed the difference between the past and the present game. He said he couldn’t make a judgment because he hadn’t watched past games. He mentioned that while some people thought the game was tougher in the old days, he thought that was because the players back then lacked skill, and only Jordan was a truly skilled player. He thinks that’s why people admire Kobe Bryant, and that every player these days has a certain skill set.
