[Saba Sports News] The F1 Committee of the FIA recently held a meeting in London, England. However, an introduced measure faced strong opposition from nearly all the teams, leading to protests. According to reports, the F1 Committee believes that altering the existing top 10 points system to a top 12 points system would provide greater opportunities for mid- and lower-tier teams to score points. While this proposal could significantly impact the competitive landscape, the teams expressed their discontent and voted against it. As a result, the F1 points system will remain unchanged in 2025. It’s worth noting that the F1 points system has undergone several revisions since 1990. For instance, the F1 Teams Association previously implemented a rule awarding 12 points to the race winner. Various proposals, such as allowing all 20 participating cars to score points or expanding the points range to the top 15, were discussed but ultimately rejected.
