[Saba Sports News] Amazon may be expanding its NBA broadcast team once again.
Six-time All-Star Kyle Lowry is reportedly being considered for a role on Amazon’s NBA coverage starting next season. The news may have slipped during Blake Griffin’s appearance on Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take podcast on Friday. Griffin, who is confirmed to be part of Amazon’s coverage, hinted at Lowry’s involvement.
“Kyle Lowry is going to be our — actually, I don’t know if that one got announced,” Griffin said, per Awful Announcing. “Damn. He’s [gonna be] a player correspondent, maybe. Maybe in some capacity. I don’t know. We’ve been talking about it.”
Lowry, now 39, is a free agent this offseason after a quiet stint with the 76ers, where he averaged 3.9 points and 2.7 assists in 35 games. While retirement could be on the table, Griffin’s mention of a “player correspondent” role suggests Lowry might be exploring media opportunities without officially hanging it up just yet.
A former NBA champion with the Raptors, Lowry could join a growing roster of stars and Hall of Famers Amazon has lined up as it prepares for its first season broadcasting NBA games.
