[Saba Sports News] According to motorsport.com, former F1 driver and current Sky Sports F1 commentator Martin Brundle revealed that former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner personally sent him a text message after Max Verstappen’s victory at the Italian Grand Prix. Horner was immediately removed from his roles as Red Bull Racing CEO and Team Principal on July 9th, replaced by VCARB (formerly AlphaTauri) team principal Laurent Mekies, ending his 20-year association with the team. His departure occurred against a backdrop of several senior Red Bull resignations and a dip in the team’s form, while McLaren was in a period of dominance. Although there has been much external speculation, the exact reasons for Horner’s exit have not been officially confirmed. Verstappen’s victory at Monza was Red Bull’s first win since Horner’s departure. Brundle said during the broadcast: “I’ve got a message here from Christian Horner, he says: ‘This was our worst race last year, the downforce setting was completely wrong.’ He says the team has put a huge effort into this package, with a fantastic outcome. No doubt about it, they’ve turned it around.”
