[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, based on UEFA rules, if a team wins the UEFA Conference League and finishes in the top five of the league, they can choose to participate in either the UEFA Europa League or Champions League. Chelsea will face Real Betis in the Conference League final. If they win, apart from the championship trophy and prize money of 5.9 million pounds, they will also gain qualification for the next season’s Europa League. If the winning team also qualifies for the Champions League through their league position, things become more complicated. According to UEFA regulations, if the Conference League champion also qualifies for the Champions League through the league, they can choose between participating in the Champions League or Europa League. Clearly, a club like Chelsea would naturally choose the Champions League. However, the existence of the “choice clause” is intended for lower-ranked league teams that win the Conference League, as these teams need to go through qualifying rounds to enter the Champions League. If they think it’s too difficult to pass these qualifiers, they can choose to directly participate in the Europa League using their Conference League title. Reports say that if the Conference League champion also qualifies for the Europa League through their league position, the league will receive an additional European spot.
