[Saba Sports News] Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has apologized to the team. Following their Copa America victory, Enzo and his Argentinian teammates sang a song that contained racist and transphobic content, which generated significant attention. Enzo promptly issued an apology on social media, stating that his behavior does not reflect his beliefs or personality. According to British media reports, several Chelsea players were disappointed by the video’s content, and internal sources suggest that a genuine reconciliation can only occur if Enzo apologizes directly to them. Enzo, who joined Chelsea from Benfica last year for a British transfer record fee of 112 million euros, may face disciplinary action from the club, including fines and anti-racism training courses. Additionally, Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana publicly condemned the video’s “unbridled racism” on social media and, like several other teammates, unfollowed Enzo. Although Enzo has sent a message to the entire Chelsea team, further efforts are needed to rebuild his relationship with his teammates.
