[Saba Sports News] During the recent DFB-Pokal match between Schalke and RB Leipzig, a scene of racial discrimination emerged in the stands. Schalke player Amine Harit was subjected to racist insults, leading to a temporary suspension of the match. Following the incident, FIFA President Gianni Infantino condemned the actions in a social media post, stating: “It is shocking to see racist insults occurring again in football matches. I reiterate that the football community will not tolerate racism or any form of discrimination. The Player Committee, established as part of the five anti-racism action measures approved by the FIFA Council in 2024, will be in contact with the German Football Association and will closely monitor these incidents.”
The editor believes that this incident highlights that, despite ongoing opposition from football governing bodies and public opinion against racism, racial discrimination still exists in the football world. It remains a long-standing issue that requires continuous efforts from all parties and the implementation of more effective measures to address it.
