[Saba Sports News] According to British media, a prestigious French wine estate has won a trademark dispute against Chelsea star Cole Palmer, successfully blocking the footballer’s plan to launch a wine series under his name. Chateau Palmer objected to Palmer’s application to sell wine under his nickname “Cold Palmer.” The 23-year-old Palmer has now removed wine from the list of goods he planned to sell under the brand name, which was inspired by his iconic goal celebration. British media disclosed in August that Palmer intended to use the name for goods including wine, spirits, and clothing. However, the estate located in the Bordeaux region raised objections. Palmer’s legal team has now amended the documents filed with the Intellectual Property Office to avoid conflict. Chateau Palmer was founded in 1814 when officer Charles Palmer purchased the estate. It is reported that the estate’s wine at its peak was considered one of Bordeaux’s finest representatives, with its 1970 vintage from the Third Growth Chateau Margaux selling for as high as £750. There is no known reputation for Cole Palmer as a wine connoisseur, although last season he did pretend to drink a lager thrown onto the pitch by a fan.
