[Saba Sports News] Ja Morant’s return to the Memphis Grizzlies from a 25-game suspension last season was cut short due to a shoulder injury.
Now, over a year later, the Grizzlies’ core of Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane, and Marcus Smart is finally healthy for the 2024-25 season opener against the Dallas Mavericks.
Head coach Taylor Jenkins says fans can expect an energized performance from the new-look Grizzlies, including rookie Zach Edey.
“You’ll definitely get a taste of our offense against the Mavericks,” Jenkins shared, highlighting how practice has focused on creating movement and taking advantage of on-court opportunities. While the preseason games won’t be as structured as training camp, Jenkins emphasizes they’ll reveal how the team adapts in real-time.
Beyond avoiding injuries, Memphis aims to find its rhythm quickly this preseason. With last season’s 12th-ranked defense but a struggling offense, Morant’s return should provide the scoring punch the Grizzlies need to contend for a top playoff spot once again.
