[Saba Sports News] According to German media reports, Max Kruse wants to reconcile with Niko Kovac and plans to invite the Borussia Dortmund manager onto his podcast. Kruse has consistently and publicly criticized Kovac for years; the former German international made no secret of his disdain for the Dortmund boss, and it was once thought that reconciliation between the two was impossible – until a potential turning point emerged recently. Kruse suddenly extended an olive branch, inviting Kovac to appear on the podcast “Flatterball,” which he runs with his friend Martin Harnik. Kruse said: “We need to invite guests who can spark discussion. It’s time to invite Kovac now; some things need to be talked out. I’m ready for a face-to-face confrontation at any time.” It is reported that the conflict between Kruse and Kovac stems from their time working together at VfL Wolfsburg, where Kruse was sidelined by Kovac after only getting five Bundesliga appearances. Kruse has accused Kovac of “being unable to handle strong-minded players” and “not giving a fair chance,” even calling him “an absolute disaster as a person.” Subsequently, the two exchanged verbal blows multiple times. Before Kovac took over at Dortmund, Kruse predicted: “The harmonious atmosphere there will be completely finished. Anyone who wants to ask for trouble, go right ahead.” After Dortmund lost 2-0 to Bochum last season, Kruse mockingly sang about Kovac on Instagram.
