[Saba Sports News] According to French media reports, Lyon has been banned from transfers for three transfer windows by FIFA because they failed to pay a debt of €2000 on time. On Monday, FIFA announced that Lyon was added to the list of clubs prohibited from registering new players, banning them from transferring players in the next three transfer windows. This includes the summer transfer window in 2025, the January winter transfer window in 2026, and the summer transfer window in 2026. FIFA regulations state: “Once the registration ban is announced, the affected club cannot register new players in domestic and international competitions until the ban is completely fulfilled or lifted by FIFA.” It is reported that this is due to Lyon’s failure to timely pay a transfer fee balance of €20 million. FIFA issued a reminder notice to Lyon Club on April 9. However, Lyon did not pay the debt within the specified 45 days, so FIFA decided to penalize Lyon. In response, Lyon club stated that after receiving FIFA’s ban notice, they had paid the amount.
