[Saba Sports News] Anthony Edwards has been fined $40,000 by the NBA for repeatedly criticizing the officiating, following comments he made after the Minnesota Timberwolves’ victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday. Edwards, who scored 27 points in the 107-101 win, expressed his frustration in a post-game interview, stating that the referees were not giving favorable calls to his team.
This wasn’t the first instance of Edwards voicing his displeasure with officiating; he had made similar comments after a loss to Oklahoma City on January 20. Edwards, seemingly undeterred by the fine, appears to be standing by his remarks.
His team, the Timberwolves, currently lead the Western Conference with a 33-14 record, positioning them as strong contenders. Edwards may believe that his outspokenness could influence future officiating to be more favorable for Minnesota, especially in crucial upcoming games.
