[Saba Sports News] Less than a third of the NBA season has passed, but one veteran forward may already have the strangest absence of the year locked down.
Chicago Bulls forward Torrey Craig missed Friday’s game against the Charlotte Hornets due to an unusual reason: an allergic skin reaction.
Bulls head coach Billy Donovan explained the situation to reporters. “I don’t know what happened — a really, really bad allergic skin reaction,” Donovan said, per Bulls writer Cody Westerlund. “He’s fine, but I think he’s had this before. Not here, but I think it happened when he was with Denver. It takes a little bit of time for it to calm down.”
Craig, 33, has seen limited action for the Bulls this season, averaging 5.2 points and 2.2 rebounds in just six appearances. Despite his absence, Chicago managed to secure a 109-95 win over Charlotte.
While game absences due to allergic reactions are rare, they’ve occurred in the NBA before—including with another former Denver Nuggets player.
