[Saba Sports News] Following the NBA Summer League, there is a new favorite for Rookie of the Year. SportsBetting.ag updated their odds, previously favoring San Antonio Spurs rookie Stephon Castle, who has now dropped to tied for fifth-best odds.
Zach Edey is now favored to win the award with 6-1 odds, slightly ahead of Reed Sheppard and Zaccharie Risacher, both at 7-1.
Edey, the No. 9 overall pick by the Memphis Grizzlies, impressed in his summer league debut with 14 points, 15 rebounds, and 4 blocks despite dealing with ankle issues. Sheppard, drafted No. 3 by the Houston Rockets, had turnover issues but showed strong offensive potential. Risacher, the No. 1 pick by the Atlanta Hawks, averaged 14.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game but missed some games due to a quad injury.
Other rookies with strong odds include Alexandre Sarr and Matas Buzelis, both currently lower than 10-1.
