[Saba Sports News] Denver Nuggets team dinners will continue without Aaron Gordon, and the team has a superstitious reason for it.
After falling behind 2-0 to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference semifinals, the Nuggets started hosting players-only dinners, one of which Gordon missed at a Minneapolis steakhouse.
Since then, the team hasn’t lost a game, and superstition dictates that Gordon stay away from these gatherings to keep the winning streak alive.
Veteran DeAndre Jordan humorously informed Gordon he’s excluded for now, promising takeout instead. Gordon took the exclusion in stride, committing to the superstition as long as the team continues its success.
“Yeah — not you though,” Jordan told Gordon when asked about the next dinner.“We’ll see you next round (of the playoffs). Sorry, dawg. We’ll bring you some takeout though.”
This quirky team ritual has emerged as the Nuggets rallied with three consecutive wins, turning the tide in the series with Nikola Jokic leading the charge.
