[Saba Sports News] The New York Knicks may still be active in the trade market.
After making a significant move by acquiring Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets, the Knicks lost center Isaiah Hartenstein, who signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder on a nearly nine-figure deal.
According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, the Knicks have “made inquiries” about replacing Hartenstein and are “showing interest” in Utah Jazz center Walker Kessler.
Kessler had a standout rookie season with the Jazz, finishing third in 2022-23 Rookie of the Year voting with averages of 9.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks on 72.0% shooting. However, the Jazz’s signing of John Collins created a frontcourt logjam, reducing Kessler’s starting opportunities in his second season.
Kessler, a 7’0″ shot-blocker, could be an ideal defensive anchor for the Knicks’ wing-heavy lineup. With the injury history of Knicks’ starter Mitchell Robinson, Kessler could find significant opportunities in New York.
