[Saba Sports News] The Korean team has performed very poorly in this Sudirman Cup, and they even faced an embarrassing situation of not winning any matches at this year’s Sudirman Cup. To address this, South Korea hired former Korean men’s singles player Son Wan Ho to join the men’s singles coaching staff with the aim of improving the level of men’s singles in badminton. Son Wan Ho is an excellent badminton player from South Korea, whose notable achievements include: winning the men’s singles championship at the 2012 Indian Badminton Super Series; winning the men’s team championship at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, and defeating Chen Long in the men’s team final; finishing third in the men’s singles at the 2017 Sudirman Mixed Team Championships, helping the Korean team defeat the Chinese team in a major upset; winning the men’s singles championships at the 2018 Korean Masters Badminton Tournament and the Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships; ranking first in the men’s singles in June 2017, making him the first male player in the history of the Korean badminton team to reach the world’s number one ranking. Sun Wan Ho participated in many major events such as the Olympics, World Championships, and Asian Games. He achieved excellent results in both team and singles competitions. He understands the pressure and strategies of major events and can help young players better cope with the atmosphere of major events, improve their mental toughness, and perform stably at critical moments.
