[Saba Sports News] Current NBA MVP Joel Embiid is facing a tough decision regarding his knee injury, which could significantly impact his playing time.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Joe Vardon, Embiid is contemplating surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee, a procedure that would sideline him for a considerable period. Alternatively, Embiid could choose a non-surgical route, focusing on rest and rehabilitation, with a decision expected by Monday.
Both options present challenges for the Philadelphia 76ers. Surgery would mean a lengthy absence for Embiid, although the exact recovery time is uncertain. Opting for rehabilitation could allow Embiid to continue playing, albeit with some discomfort, a situation he has managed for much of the past month.
His condition worsened after an incident in a recent game where Jonathan Kuminga fell on his leg, exacerbating the injury and potentially leading to more missed games for Embiid, who has already faced criticism for sitting out games in January.
